The river is forecast to drop off of moderate flood stage into minor flood stage by later this coming week. * WHERE...Portneuf River at Pocatello. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 10.0 feet, Significant flooding of agricultural land will occur from the Inkom and Blackrock area. Lowland flooding will occur along sections of the river in Pocatello from Portnuef Gap to the Cheyenne Avenue Bridge and downstream of the concrete channel beginning at Sacajawea Park. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:45 AM MDT Sunday the stage was 10.2 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 10:45 AM MDT Sunday was 10.3 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 10.3 feet early tomorrow afternoon. - Flood stage is 8.5 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 10.1 feet on 02/02/1963. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood && Fld Observed Forecasts (12 pm MDT) Location Stg Stg Day/Time Mon Tue Wed Portneuf River Pocatello 8.5 10.2 Sun 10 am MD 10.3 10.1 10.0 && Information: Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. ...FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR THE POTENTIAL FAILURE OF PORTNEUF DAM SPILLWAY ON CHESTERFIELD RESERVOIR ON THE PORTNEUF RIVER REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Flash Flooding caused by a potential spillway failure is possible at the Portneuf Dam on Chesterfield Reservoir. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Idaho, including along the Portneuf River downstream of Chesterfield Reservoir thorugh Pebble and along Old Highway 30 south to Lava Hot Springs and downstream to McCammon. * WHEN...Through Monday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Failure of the spillway may result in flash flooding of low-lying areas below the dam, including areas that are already experiencing flooding along the Portneuf River. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Information: You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
